The combined and contiguous Twin Lakes and Otter group of properties consists of 14 claims, comprising 1936 ha. The Twin Lakes and Otter group of claims is wholly owned by Copper Reef Mining Corporation with an underlying royalty of 1% NSR to Bruce Murray on the Otter group of claims. The Otter Lake Gold group of claims is located 6 km northwest of the town of Cranberry Portage and 35 km south of Flin Flon, Manitoba, within the NTS map area 63K 11. The property is bisected by Provincial Highway #10 and several smaller gravel roads. Power lines are located along the highway.
Three main gold showings, the Payuka Gold Vein, the Joplin Gold Vein, the Parres Gold Vein as well as a shaft and two adits appear to be located on a large regional fault structure, the Gurney Mine Structure. These showings are southwest of the past producing Gurney Gold Mine and the Century Gold Mine.
The property consists of three main quartz veins carrying up to 3.33 oz/t Gold and 13.9 oz/t Silver.
The Otter Lake Gold Property is underlain by primarily a package of massive and pillowed mafic volcanic flows, tuffs and interflow sediments. The volcanic package has been intruded by granites and quartz diorite plutons. Minor greywackes, arkose, quartzite, and iron formations are found within this sequence. Late quartz feldspar porphyries intrude all rocks and are cut only by quartz veining.
Several shear structures strike north to northeast across the entire property. The largest structure is the Gurney Mine Structure, which can be traced from Lake Athapapuskow over a strike length of at least 55 km. Several known gold occurrences are located proximal to this structure including the Payuka, Parres, Joplin, and Adit Showings on the Otter Lake Gold Property, and the past-producing Gurney and Century Mines further to the north east. The gold showing in the Twin Lakes area occurs along tangential structures 20-30 degrees off the main structure Payuka-Gurney Mine Structure.
Mineralization along this main structure and subsidiary shears generally share the following common characteristics:
The mine was developed in the 1930's on two small veins; a 29 m vein assaying 23.19 g/t over a width of 1.16 m and a second 21 m vein assaying 12.57 g/t over a width od 1.34 m. In 135 the shaft was deepened to 199 m and the mine operated from 1937 to 1939. A total of 94,650 t0nnes were mined producing 872.28 kg (28,045 oz) of gold. In the 1980's Granges Inc. drilled a number of holes in new zones, the most significant being a hole drilled in 1989 of 12 m of 37g/t (1.08 oz/ton). A number of zones including the Gossan hill and the Contact Zone occur along a 5.5 km long structure. Callinex Mines is currently exploring the property mainly concentrating on the Gossan and Contact zones.
The Century Gold mine was one of the earliest prospects in the area having been staked in 1919 when this area was still part of the North West Territories. The mine occurs in pillowed and massive volcanic lava flows intruded by a 0.96-3.05 m wide sheared quartz feldspar porphyry that has been traced for 92 m. The sheared porphyry (a pyritic quartz sericite schist) contains quartz lenses pyrite, galena, chalcopyrite and visible gold.
A 90 tonne mill was built in 1941 but the mine only operated till 1942 when like most mines in Canada they ceased operations during the war. In 1946 the shaft was deepened from 21 m to 161 m.
In 1979 additional drilling and sampling was done by Ram Petroleums Limited who outlined an indicated reserves of 272,000 tonnes grading 12 g gold/t 90.035oz/ton).
Parres Vein 2012 Grab Sample Assay Results
|Sample #||Au (g/t)||Au (oz/t)||Ag (g/t)||Ag (oz/t)||Pb (%)|
In the summer of 2013 Copper Reef Mining Corporation located a DDH casing on the eastern tip of Little Twin Lake that was drilled at 45° in 1989 into a new quartz vein gold showing that was discovered in 1982-1983 by Nor-Acme Gold Mines Lld. Copper Reef Mining Corporation sampled this relatively recent gold showing located at L47+10E 29+30N on the Otter 3 MB6282 mining claim. Sample 537103 assayed 27.07 g/t Au and 91.3 g/t Ag. This was the highest gold grade obtained on the property after the samples taken on the Parres Gold Vein.
In addition to the Otter-Twin Lake Group, Copper Reef hold's 6 additional claims along the main Gurney Mine structure immediately west of the Callinex's Gurney Mine Property. No field work has been done on this property but a recent VTEM Airborne Electric Magnetic Survey has outlined numerous airborne EM conductors with correlating magnetic anomalies. The shear structure clearly shows up on the magnetic map. A field investigation this summer is planned to investigate these anomalies.
The following recommendations are based on the information and results gained from the 2012/2013 mapping and drilling program on the Parres Gold Vein and surrounding area completed on the Otter Lake property.
Extend grid 6 lines to east to cover known trenches and the new gold discovery.
PREVIOUS EXPENDITURES $260,155.60
A total Budget of $125,000.00
Approximately $50,000.00 is needed for line-cutting an extension to the Adit grid to the northeast towards the Gurney Mine, a Mag/VLF survey as well as detailed mapping and sampling of this newly extended grid. Another $50,000.00 is needed for 1 drill hole (100m) to test the relatively recent gold showing located on the NE tip of little Twin Lake. $20,000 for the reconnaissance prospecting on the Burn Claims, includes air transportation.
